My job

For months, there has been conflict between me and the head of our other phone staff at another office. The other staff operates as a call center-they create the repair ticket from a list of questions and then pass the ticket on to techs for trouble shooting and resolution. Those of us still on site create the tickets, but we also trouble shoot everything we can think of before we send it to the more experienced techs. This means we are on the phone longer than the recommended time. With my recent evaluation and pay raise, my boss here told me he has recieved favorable comments from our customers on my willingness to stay on the phone with our customers and not hurry them. Gee, I think I'll keep the VIP's happy...

Yes, annoying a vip, especially a 3 star, is a very bad idea, as my job is to keep them happy.

That other manager is either jealous or just stupid and in either case not worth the effort it would take to consider the state of his/her happiness. LOL! I'm with you, the VIP get first consideration.

AND - I'm with your customers. I'd much rather have someone take the time to try and resolve my issue before passing me off just so they can meet some arbitrary productivity goal.

Damama t- I'm with you. Wednesday, we found out one of the employees who has been here temporary will be taking over the call center that we answer to. We gave him an ear full. He said customer support was more important than keeping the calls to an arbitrary length. I'm right! Nice to have that reinforced by the boo of the manager who calls us to complain that we took too long with that call.

I can't believe you have time to garden - you have 9 kids and you work outside the home? You make me look like a slacker!

suburban correspondent- I till once and plant. I weed a few times until the plants are several inches high. Then I ignore them until the town complains about the height of the weeds. A string trimmer works well to weed between the rows. :)

Customer service is the most important thing, since customers give us our jobs :). Amazing to go back and forth between your job and your 9 kid home!
